Beer Chicks at LA Craft Beer Crawl by Caroline on Crack

Let’s all take a moment to thank these ladies, Beer Chicks Hallie Beaune and Christina Perozzi, for the annual L.A. Craft Beer Crawl.

The 5th Annual L.A. Beer Crawl is coming up. You know what that means: time to strategize. After all, you’ll be hitting eight 213 Nightlife downtown bars with over 100 craft beers to try. There’s just no way. I don’t care how big your liver is. So the best thing to do is be smart and find out where your favorite brews are going to pop up. But I did you one better and asked the craft beer crawl co-hosts the Beer Chicks Hallie Beaune and Christina Perozzi which beers in particular they were super excited to drink. Naturally all the beers at the crawl are gonna be awesome, but which are the ones that you should get a hold of ASAP before they’re tapped out? Hallie and Christina weigh in.

Highland Park Brewery’s Lazy Susan (Varnish VIP room): “We’re so happy that this new local brewery is up and running and will be at the Crawl this year! Bob Kunz is the founder/brewer and this beer is a Berliner Weisse with peaches and nectarines. Berliner Weisses are tart verging on sour, low alcohol ales perfect for the summer.”

Drake’s Brewing Co.’s Aroma Coma (Varnish VIP room): “This limited summer seasonal IPA is a hophead favorite. Hops: Citra, Cascade, Chinook, El Dorado and Amarillo – yum! Lots of citrus, caramel and resinous pine with a bitter bite.”

Smog City Brewing’s Weird Beer (Las Perlas patio): “This is a Saison brewed with spices and herbs from their local Torrance Farmer’s market. Notes of sage and thyme.”

Los Angeles Ale Works’ Lievre Saison (Broadway Bar upstairs): “Another Saison, which is one of our favorite styles, this one brewed by another new brewery. It’s brewed with local kumquats.”

Figueroa Mountain Brewing’s Biere de Menage (Varnish VIP room): “We have a very limited amount of this French-style farmhouse style collaboration between the brewery and Margerum Wine Company. The beer is aged in Sauvignon Blanc oak wine barrels.”

Goose Island Beer Co.’s Bourbon County Stout (Varnish VIP room): “This rich Bourbon-barrel aged stout has a cult following and usually a big line!”

Eagle Rock Brewery’s Imperialist (Varnish VIP room): “One of our favorite local breweries will pour this limited Double IPA. It’s a big hoppy 10% abv beer, but surprisingly balanced.”

Allagash Brewing Company’s Neddles (Varnish VIP room): “This is a new experimental beer from Allagash, it’s a wild ale aged in rum barrels from a local rum distiller in Portland, Maine. Very complex, earthy, mushroomy, tart and rummy.”

Golden Road Brewing’s Almond Milk Stout (Golden Gopher on tap): “This is sweet milk stout is brewed with Califa Farms Almond Milk. Notes of espresso and roasted nuts.”

Ohana Brewing Company’s Acorn Ambition (Cana): This is a delicious amber ale infused with Secret Squirrel Cold Brew coffee. It has a lovely balance and a roasted fresh coffee flavor.
