Halloween 2013 zombie having a cocktail by Caroline on Crack

Grab a drink with this guy on Halloween.

If you’re like me, you stress out about what to do for Halloween. What are you going to wear? Where are you going to go? Is it going to be a scene? Hopefully this list will help you out. It’s stuff more my speed, and hopefully yours. Great drinking and not too scene-y. Happy Halloween!

Ray’s and Stark Bar’s Wurst Halloween Party Ever

Ray’s and Stark Bar is going whole hog, or at least just whole hog head, for its Halloween celebration. The party’s focus is a deep-fried stuffed hog’s head which will be carved with a chainsaw by Executive Chef Kris Morningstar. Carving begins at 9pm. Revelers are invited to come dressed in costume with the winner of the “Wurst Costume Ever” contest winning a “special prize.” Cocktail specials include a Dragon’s Tail with blended scotch, allspice dram, lime and bitters and The Blood-Sucking Brady Bunch with rum, calvados, velvet falernum, lemon juice and Angostura ($7 each). Bottled beer is $5 and wine is $6. If you want to stick around for the assorted wurst plates, you can either do $25 for all you can eat or $9 to $12 for individual small plates. Reservations: (323) 857-6780.

By the time you get through with 213’s zombie bar crawl, you’ll no doubt end up like the walking dead. The Halloween crawl will have you ambling through downtown bars Seven Grand, Cana, Las Perlas, Broadway Bar, Cole’s, Golden Gopher, Casey’s, Tony’s, 4100 Bar and even the brand-new hotspot Honeycut. All zombies get $5 punch. A special Instagram contest gives you a chance at winning $666 (1st place), $666 in free drinks (2nd place) or $66.60 in free drinks (3rd place). All you have to do is Instagram as many photos of you (costumed of course) with a bartender (behind you is good enough) as possible with “#213ZombieCrawl.” Those who make it to the most bars gain entry into the costume contest.

Acabar’s Masked Gala

If you’re looking for a sexy time, Acabar is the place to be on Halloween night. They’re actually partnering with the adult store Pleasure Chest, who will be giving out goody bags filled with “sexy treats” to the first 50 guests. It’ll be an evening of naughty bites of porn bread, “eat me” veggies, “Bondage Bird” chicken skewers and something called “Crispy Glory Hole Beignets.” Um, heh. Naturally there will be a cocktail by mixologists Josh Goldman and Julian Cox; The Cosby Sweater with vodka, pomegranate and lime. For entertainment there’s a dj, stilt walkers, fire dancers and an interactive performance.
