Pressed Juicery’s New Year’s Day juice cleanse.

2012 was a truly debaucherous year for me. (I present Exhibit A: my post of all the drinks I loved in 2012.) So when I heard about Pressed Juicery‘s special New Year’s Day juice cleanse deal, I was all about it. For someone who has never done an all-juice diet or cleanse before but was always curious about it, a price drop from $285 to $117 (for the in-store deal) is just enough motivation to give up coffee and cocktails for nine days all in the name of better health.

Both deals — the New Year’s Day special and the in-store one — are only available through January 8, however. And when I went to the West Hollywood location last Thursday in the afternoon they said they were all sold out of the juice cleanses but to try back in the evening. Another problem is that you can’t just buy the juices and start them the next day. Pressed Juicery recommends three days of prep before you do the juices. Meaning no alcohol, caffeine, meat, starches or sugar leading up to the cleanse. You can eat but you pretty much have to stick to a vegan-ish diet. Also the juices are good for only three days so you can’t stock up on them.

But if you want to go ahead and try the juice cleanse, there are three kinds available. Cleanse 1 is recommended for the newbie as it’s “the easiest plan to stick to and is gentle on the system.” Cleanse 2 is for those who’ve cleansed before, eat healthily and work out a couple of times a week. It’s described as a deep cleanse but not as intense as Cleanse 3, which is the most heavily vegetable based of the three. It’s basically for vegetarians who workout regularly, and it’s touted as the cleanse for maximum results. Scary.

Even though the little quiz to figure out which cleanse would be best for me suggested I do Cleanse 2, I’m going stick to Cleanse 1. As a first timer I think it would be best. It’ll be hard enough giving up all the stuff I love for nine days.

So I’m currently on Day Two of prepping for the cleanse and aim to purchase my kit before the special runs out. Will follow up with how it went. Wish me luck!
