DieN’Isis XI: A Zombie Apocalypse Survival Beer Pairing Dinner Workshop
I love the premise of this dinner on so many levels. Zombies and beer pairings?! Genius. This special dinner features dishes that highlight the chronological elements of the zombie transformation, like reanimation (a still wriggling octopus) and of course a trio of brains. The five courses will be paired with beer from The Bruery, Eagle Rock Brewery and Beachwood BBQ & Brewing.

  • 5pm. $80 advance purchase only. Beachwood BBQ & Brewing, 210 E 3rd Street, Long Beach (map).

Ceviche Nights Dinner Series at Mo-Chica
Ceviche is taken to another level at this two-night affair. For the first Sunday night, Melisse’s Josiah Citrin and Chef Ricardo Zarate prepared a special all-uni menu; five courses of sea urchin dishes paired with New Belgium beer. Bartender Matt Biancaniello also created three special cocktails to complement the food, like the Fish out of Water cocktail with sake, nori, cumin simple syrup, uni broth, lemon juice, agave, applewood smoked salt. On Sunday the 16th, guest chefs Bryant Ng (The Spice Table) and Kris Yenbamroong (NIGHT + MARKET) are up.

  • Seatings 5:30-8:30pm. $75-$85. Mo-Chica, 514 W 7th Street, Los Angeles (map).

Neat Bar’s Christians vs. Jews Holiday Party
Now that the bar is all decked out thanks to the thirsty drinkers during Wednesday’s tree trimming party, it’s time for the holiday party. This particular one features the return of the Christians vs. the Jews cocktail contest which pits bartenders of either faith against each other. The $25 admission includes booze, food and music, while a portion of the proceeds will go to NYC Red Cross Sandy Relief Fund.

  • 7-10pm. $25. Neat, 1114 N Pacific Avenue, Glendale (map).
