You’re Invited: 7th Blogiversary Party at Formosa Cafe

Caroline on Crack's 7th Anniversary by Efren Gerard Pardilla

August 2, 2012 marks the seventh year I’ve been blogging while “on Crack.” Looking back at that first post in 2005 I’d like to think I’ve come a long way as it only had two lines of original content, with my first words being “I wanna go here!” Oh so compelling stuff. Heh.

Regardless, I want to celebrate being able to hold an interest in something this long, with all my friends, family and readers. I honestly wouldn’t have been able to keep it up these seven years without your support AND constant questions about where to do stuff in L.A.

So come out to the historic Formosa Cafe next Thursday starting at 8pm for lots of revelry. Formosa is a beautiful L.A. landmark with lots of history and recently Kate Grutman, formerly of Sotto, totally renovated its cocktail program. Plus, it’s where Marilyn Monroe took her cocktail breaks while she was filming The Seven Year Itch at the movie studio across from the eatery so it seemed fitting.

At the anniversary party we’ll do it up like it’s 2005 as Kate will serve up her 2005-themed cocktails she made special for the event. Think, Elit by Stoli Cosmos and jello shots. And oh yes, there will be whiskey. Freebies include the Welcome jello shots, bar bites by Formosa Cafe’s Vince and boozy cupcakes while three specialty CoCktails will be specially priced at $10 each.

UPDATED: DJ jasepi will be manning the turntables in the bar. I feel very fortunate to have him come spin at my party as he’s one of “the most requested djs in Tinseltown” and has spun at the Playboy Mansion, movie premiere parties and LA/NY fashion shows! Fanceee! Out on the back patio, live bands called The Family will be performing. Make sure to get your hand stamped when you come into my party so you can forgo the $5 donation to hear the bands outside.

Proceeds of all cocktail sales will benefit Kate’s dad’s charity, Lenny Krayzelburg Foundation, whose mission it “is to transform the lives of economically and socially disadvantaged youth in Los Angeles by raising their expectations of what is possible through a high-quality swimming program.”

In other words, drink like a fish at the party and help kids to swim like one! Feel free to hit the “Donate” button on the Foundation’s site if you’d like to donate more, you gorgeous giver!

Since the party’s theme is 2005, feel free to dust off your trucker hats and baby tees. Party photographer Jennifer Low will be documenting the debauchery! (Here are her beautiful photos from my 3rd blogiversary.)

It’s going to be a good time and I hope to see you all there!
