This Weekend: Dirty Dance-a-Long, Fred Segal Sale, Firestone Walker Beer Belly Takeover

— by Caroline on Crack

Squee! It’s already the first weekend of the summer! How are you going to spend it?

Friday, June 22

Fred Segal Santa Monica Sale
From now through July 3, Fred Segal Santa Monica will host its first ever summer sale where selected fashions, home furnishings, accessories and footwear from stores Fred Segal Eyes, Ron Robinson, Bettina Duncan and more are 50 percent off. Ooh, I need new sunglasses!

  • June 22-July 3. Fred Segal Santa Monica, 500 Broadway, Santa Monica (map).

Hefe Day at The Pub at Golden Road
Barrel aged añejo tequila and hefeweizen. Drooling yet? Golden Road Brewing will be tapping this rare beer of Golden Road Hefeweizen barrel-aged in anejo tequila barrels on Friday at the Pub. You won’t want to miss out on this hef which tastes of candied banana, soft agave and white oak so get thee to the Pub as it’s available in limited supply. There will also be freshly canned Hef, straight from the canning line.

  • 5pm. The Pub at Golden Road, 5430 San Fernando Road West, Los Angeles (map). (213) 373-4677.

Grand Performances: Dirty Dancing Dance-A-Long
If you were a fan of this 1987 Patrick Swayze flick and know all the dirty dirty steps, then you won’t want to miss this dance-a-long at Grand Performances downtown. Pro dancers will give you a free salsa lesson before the movie and then perform in sync with the dance numbers in the movie during the screening. DD choreographer Kenny Ortega will be making an appearance to hopefully teach some extra dirty dance steps.

  • 7:45pm salsa lessons, 8pm movie starts. Grand Performances, 350 S Grand Avenue, Downtown (map).

Sunday, June 24

Cari & Jaymee’s Lil’ Twisted Sangrita Summer School at City Tavern
The sangrita tour continues, this time landing in Culver City’s City Tavern, which will make Westsiders who missed previous tour stops very happy. Bartenders Cari Hah (Neat Bar) and Jaymee Mandeville (Drago Centro) will be doing up their own special brand of Micheladas: rojamichelada with red chile sauce and a verdemichelada with green chile sauce. You get to pick one of the many beers on tap to use in it. But Cari suggests using something “tangy and refreshing” and “not as fancy…cuz if it’s quality beer, you don’t want to mess with it too much!”

  • 5-10pm. City Tavern, 9739 Culver Boulevard, Culver City (map). (310) 838-9739.

Firestone Walker Tap Takeover at Beer Belly
One of my favorite breweries is taking over the taps at Beer Belly in K-Town on Sunday. That means you can enjoy the likes of Parabola Russian Imperial Stout, Wookey Jack Black Rye IPA and Walkers Reserve Robust Porter (three of my faves) with your brunch! And if you get there early enough (and are a swaghound), you might just be able to get a Firestone Walker pint glass, t-shirt or hat, which are available in limited quantities  to those who purchase the beer.

  • Beer Belly, 532 S Western Avenue, Koreatown (map). (213) 387-2337.
