The Princess Bride (“Sweded” in 5 minutes) – watch more funny videos

It’s my big move weekend! So excited. OK, not really. Because that will mean that I probably won’t be able to go to any of these fun events. Sad trombone.

Friday, July 22

The Paper Bag Princess Vintage Super Summer Sale
I always drive pass by the store on Olympic and drool over its gorgeous dresses in the window display. So happy happy joy joy that they’re having a week-long sale with items marked up to 90% off. They said there will be no less than 30 racks packed with finds 75-90% off. Peruse designer handbags, costume jewelry and even bridal gowns.

  • 11am. Paper Bag Princess, 8818 West Olympic Boulevard, Beverly Hills (map).

Saturday, July 23

ColLAboration #5: Belgian Independence Day
My second favorite Independence Day celebrating awesome beer-making Belgium. For $15 (plus 69-cent service fee) you get a limited-edition Duvel collector’s goblet as well as entry into future ColLAboration beer gardens. It’s highly recommended you buy your membership glass in advance since there will be a limited amount sold at the event. If you buy from The Full Pint, you get three beer tokens (normally $6 each) and the goblet and admission for $24!

  • 12-9pm. Admission: $15-$24. 8950 Sunset Boulevard, West Hollywood (map).

A Drinking Game: The Princess Bride
A drinking game around The Princess Bride sounds like a really good time. The rules? The audience and the actors — yes, it’s a live performance — take a swig on specific keywords and cues signaled by a bell. How much do you want to bet that “Inconceivable” makes it as a drink cue? Molly Malone’s will have cheap drafts for sale and there will also be props like swords and masks to really get in the mood.

  • 7-10pm. $10. Molly Malone’s, 575 S Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles (map). (323) 935-1577.

Sunday, July 24

GLAAD Hancock Park: Top Chef Invasion
This intimate food fest with tasting stations featuring Comme Ca, Dominick’s and Little Next Door and a Top Chef Challenge hosted by Susan Feniger is all for a great cause: the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD). General admission is $100 but for the Platinum Level tickets ($150) you get judging entry to the chef challenge!

Angeleno’s Live & Dine LA
Every year I look forward to this event which celebrates Angeleno Magazine‘s annual restaurant awards. All the food tasting stations from the issue’s winning restaurants and chefs — like Scott Conant of Scarpetta, Sang Yoon of Lukshon and Kris Yenbamroong of Night + Market — are laid out all around the Fairmont Miramar Hotel’s ginormous fig tree. There will also be culinary demos as well as a nice sampling of wines and spirits.

  • 4:30-7pm. Tickets: $95 general, $150 VIP. Fairmont Miramar Hotel, 101 Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica (map).

The kickoff party includes The Wanderer, Marron Acidifie, Hottenroth Berliner Weisse, Saison de Lente and Pharaoh carefully paired with cheese selected by Bruery Provisions cheese expert Kendra Birdwell and Library Alehouse’s own Tom Kelley.

  • 6-9pm. Library Alehouse, 2911 Main Street, Santa Monica (map). (310) 314-4855.
