Guelaguetza Tequila Tasting
This monthly tasting series is made even tastier with all-you-can-drink Meloza tequila shots and specialty cocktails. But don’t worry, you also get a five-course Oaxacan tasting menu to coat your stomach. Tickets are $45/person and are all-inclusive.

LA Tamale Throwdown
All things tamale! A tamale judging contest, a tamale eating contest and lots of delicious food and drink, art displays, live music. Everyone is encouraged to bike to the event and there will be free bike valet provided by Flying Pigeon. Admission is one can food item. Tamale contestants include Oaxacan tamales, chile rellenos, vegan/veggie tamales and strawberry/pineapple tamales.

Los Angeles Athletic Club?s Swim With The Sharks
Float on an inflatable shark in an indoor Olympic-size pool at this historic athletic club while watching Jaws, the scariest man-meets-shark movie ever. Poolside there will be “bloody” cocktails like an inspired “Chum,” a red sangria, as well as Rob Roy (in a nod to lead actor Roy Scheider) and of course the Bloody Mary. It’s only $15 and that includes one cocktail.

Sanrio?s I Heart Nerds Party
Sanrio’s All the Small Gift LA art show, curated by JapanLA, kicks off this weekend. And on Saturday is its “I Heart Nerds” party for fans of that geeky Hello Kitty line. There will be live music, a costume photo booth, a retro arcade, mini golf, a pop-up shop, food trucks/snack booths and even a Ferris wheel. Attendees get a free limited edition Hello Kitty nerds-themed crown and glasses!
