This Weekend: Fashion's Night Out LA, Unlimited Beer Tasting, Underground Dining Society

— by Caroline on Crack

Shout-out to my sister, Jennifer, whose birthday is tomorrow. Too bad she doesn’t live in LA else I’d take her to all of the following. Yeah, Jennifer, you missed out, heh. But have a happy birthday!

Friday, September 10

Fashion’s Night Out via Racked LA
OK, I’m not going to even try to compete with Racked LA’s comprehensive rundown of this global fashionable event. But I will give a shout-out to Opening Ceremony’s free astrology readings, the pop-up Magnolia Bakery shop at Fred Segal on Melrose, and cocktails and mini massages at Strange Invisible Perfumes on Abbot Kinney. So many fun things to do!

  • 6-10pm. All over Los Angeles.

Hollywood Bowl Fireworks Finale with Pink Martini
Nothing says the end of summer like the pyrotechnic finale at the Hollywood Bowl. Pink Martini will have you grooving on your bench with their selection of Argentine tango and merengue beats. I’d say this is the perfect occasion to break out that thermos of cocktails and portable martini glasses.

  • Friday 8:30pm, Saturday 8:30pm, Sunday 7:30pm. Tickets: $14.75-$166. Hollywood Bowl, 2301 N. Highland Avenue, Los Angeles (map).

Saturday, September 11

34th Annual Mississippi Picnic
Grab a little bit of the South with this annual picnic event that features Southern delectables like fried catfish, hushpuppies and BBQ ribs. Just bring your own blanket and some friends and kick back with some Lazy Magnolia Beer from ol’ MS. There will also be live music. Admission is $25 and includes the food, drink and music.

  • 1-6pm. $25. Elysian Park, 2010 Stadium Way, Los Angeles (map).

3rd Annual Brew Haw Haw
Unlimited beer tasting. Need I say more? OK, at this outdoor festival there will also be music, food stations and auctions. Plus all proceeds from this event will go to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

  • 3-7pm. $50. 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles (map).

Sunday, September 12

Dining Society With Red Medicine, XIV, Eva Restaurant and Providence
This fancy underground dinner will feature mainly Asian cuisine from the chefs from Red Medicine, XIV, Eva and Providence with cocktail pairings created by Tricia Alley of Eva, Steve Calabro of Red O and Daniel Nelson. All that for only $50! But you have to RSVP asap as seating is limited. There’s no dress code or waiters just straight-up dining.

  • 6pm. $40. TBA in Hancock Park.
