Buy Tickets to Girls Only Cooking Class: Truffles and Toffee
Grab a bunch of your girlfriends and head to this nommy-sounding event. Confection expert Clemence Gosset will instruct students on how to make their own bittersweet chocolate truffles, English butter toffees, almond toffees and Valrhona cocoa powder pralined hazelnuts. Normally it costs $75 but was just added to Goldstar so you can now secure your spot in class for $39 instead, the same exclusive price for Taste and Vintage members!

25th Annual Jet to Jetty 5K and 10K
Start your morning running along the beach on a fast flat course through city streets. That’s what I’m doing! I can’t believe this little race has been going on for a quarter of a century. Anyway, after the race you can celebrate at the finish line with an In-N-Out Burger meal for only $5. Race parking is only $1 until noon and you can register for the race the day of the event.
- 8am. $30. Dockweiler State Beach, Playa Del Rey (map).

Downtown Film Festival’s Closing Night Gala: The Jackson 5 in Africa
Check out MJ pre-plastic surgery, pre-superstar years, when he was still cute and performing with his bros in the Jackson 5. This never-before-seen documentary headlines the Downtown Film Festival’s closing night gala and will be playing three times this night.
- 5, 7, 9pm. $15. AT&T Center, 1150 S. Olive Street, Downtown (map).
Fast Times at Ridgemont High at Devil’s Drive-In
At the Devil’s Drive-In, catch the movie that stars Sean Penn, Mr. Serious Big Time Actor, as iconic burnout, Jeff Spicoli. I haven’t had the chance to check out this outdoor movie venue yet but heard that it’s a lot less crowded than the cemetery screenings. Plus you can bring your car, make out in it if you want (fun!) or bike/walk on over and grab a seat on the Astroturf. Plus the Angel City Derby Girls car hop, bringing over concession stand food.
