Maaannn, I was looking forward to this long holiday weekend but sickness has struck me down. Anyway, hope you guys have fun.

Spitz Little Tokyo Grand Opening
Kebab restaurant, Spitz, is kicking off its newness to downtown with $2 beers and house-recipe sangria and half off all menu items tonight. Try a Doner meal deal which comes with a drink and side or the Doner plate for about $5. Yeah, I don’t know if I’m feeling kebabs but you can’t beat those drink specials!

  • 7pm-12am. Spitz Downtown, 371 E. 2nd Street, Little Tokyo (map). (213) 613-0101.

humanwine performs at Bordello
My friend and multi-talented blogger, estarLA aka Esther, will be performing on her violin tonight with humanwine which, according to her sounds like “pirate shanty music with a twinge of French in there.” The night starts with spoken word and then estarLA and humanwine hit the stage at 9. So you can enjoy dinner and drinks at Spitz first and then roll down to the Bordello for a show. Fun!

  • $5. Doors open at 8pm. Bordello, 901 E. 1st Street, Downtown (map). (213) 687-3766.

Friday, January 16

Rivera Opens
Yup, another restaurant that’s celebrating an opening downtown. But this one comes with special bronze-casted tequila chairs in which you can enjoy the seasonal tequila on tap. These sipping tequilas served in flights are infused with fruits, herbs and spices. Sounds fancy with rooms like the Samba Lounge which features a 40-foot-long video art installation, and the Playa Bar with its large communal table.

  • Rivera, 1050 S. Flower Street, Downtown (map). (213) 749-1460.

Saturday, January 17

A&D Vintage Warehouse Sale/Birthday Party
An awesome public sale where all the vintage pieces are $1?! But that’s not the best part, there’s an open bar for 21+, a live band, dj/dancing, a taco truck and tarot readings! Sounds like a lot going on for this awesome sale. This warehouse apparently supplies many eBay stores, Etsy and vintage and secondhand stores all over.

  • 8pm-2am. $10 cover. A&D Vintage Warehouse, 2140 Sacramento Street, Los Angeles (map).

Sunday, January 18

Flying Pigeon Dim Sum Ride
This sounds so fun! A bike ride/dim sum tour. The ride starts off at the Flying Pigeon bike shop in Highland Park and heads to Empress Pavilion for dim sum and then Hop Louie for a late morning cocktail. Bring $20 to cover your meal and cocktail, with a little extra for tip. If you don’t got your own bike, the shop will let you borrow one of theirs. But call ahead to secure your ride. BTW, if you buy a bike from the Pigeon, lunch is on them.

  • 10am. Flying Pigeon, 5711 N. Figueroa Street, Highland Park (map). Reserve bike (213) 909-8986.

Scotch & Songs Sundays at the Foundry on Melrose
Another event that sounds too good to be true but it’s fer real. Enjoy free scotch tastings and a free live music show featuring L.A. singer/songwriters at Eric Greenspan’s restaurant. The night will also feature discounted scotches and specialty scotch-based cocktails. AND if you don’t enjoy your experience, Greenspan will give you a complimentary gift certificate for the price of a meal and invite you back.

  • 8-11:30pm. The Foundry on Melrose, 7465 Melrose Avenue, Los Angeles (map). (323) 651-0915.
