This Weekend: Warehouse Sales, Free Cocktails, Alooo-HA!

— by Caroline on Crack

This weekend is going to be awesome. I’m going to that prom party tomorrow, the white trash tasting on Saturday and my bro is getting married on Sunday! Oh, plus all this! Ay yi yi!

Thursday, October 23

Charles David Semi Annual Warehouse Sale
Oy! Two big warehouse sales this weekend! What’s a girl with limited means to do? Ohh damn, there are 15,000 pairs of fab Charles David sandals, wedges and boots marked 80 percent off. Can’t. Resist. Shoes. And Charles David’s “biggest selection of handbags ever!” Danger, danger.

  • Thursday and Friday 9am-6pm, Saturday 9am-5pm. In parking lot of 5731 Buckingham Parkway, Culver City (map).

Gruesome Hotel: Murder Mystery and Free Cocktails
My friend and AWFF companion, Beth, is in this scary murder mystery play. But the best part, apart from Beth being in it, is that they will be serving free alcohol all night and you can actually enjoy your freebie beer, wine, cocktail in the theater! The specialty cocktail of the night is the Bloody Murder: vodka, pomegranate juice, Chambord and 7-Up.

  • Thursday through Saturday at 8pm. $15 or 2 for $20. 6128 Yucca Avenue, Hollywood (map). Reservations: (323) 469-3113.

Friday, October 24

LF Store Fall Warehouse Sale
Just in time for that fall weather…wait, it’s still hot out you say? Well, on the chance that it does get cooler out, you might want to stock up on some fashionable threads at this sale. Get sweaters, tops, jackets, jeans, skirts, and shoes for up to 80 percent off! $135 boots are now $35, $246 jeans are now $18!

  • 5333 McConnell Avenue, Los Angeles (map). (310) 437-4100.

Sprinkles’ Halloween Cupcakes
It’s that time of year again: the return of the Sprinkles Halloween Boo box o’ cupcakes. As a special for everyone’s spooky holiday, the cupcakery will be selling Halloween-themed cupcakes in vanilla milk chocolate, red velvet, black and white, and caramel apple decorated with ghost and BOO decorations.

  • Thru October 31. Various Sprinkle locations.

Go Native: Luau Opens
The iconic Luau, former Rat Pack haunt, is reopening its doors this Friday. Apart from the upscale tiki interior (a 33-pufferfish chandelier!), I’m thinking it will be all about those tropical cocktails. I wanna try the Luau Coconut cocktail — fresh juices, coconut milk and rum — served in a young coconut shell.

  • 369 N. Bedford Drive, Beverly Hills (map). (310) 274-0090.

Saturday, October 25

Cemetery Screening of Carrie
The only way to screen this Stephen King classic: in the cemetery! When that hand comes out of the grave, see how many people jump. Plus it’s fun to see John Travolta and Sissy Spacek when they were still so fresh faced. Dig William Katt’s white boy fro.

  • Gates open at 5:30, film starts at 7pm. $10 ($5 parking). 6000 Santa Monica Boulevard, Los Angeles (map).

Tonga Hut’s 50th Anniversary Party
Where one tiki bar reopens, another one celebrates its 50th anniversary! As LA’s oldest tiki bar this is sure to be quite a party. There will be traditional Polynesian dancers and drink specials and DJ Lee spinning lounge and exotica music to complete the theme.

  • 8pm. No cover. 12808 Victory Boulevard, North Hollywood (map). (818) 769-0708.
