Yes, these are such trying times and maybe you can’t afford the fancy cheeses, gourmet meats or rich desserts you used to be able to to go with your fine wines. Colorado Wine Company feels ya and will be hosting its 2nd annual white trash tasting ($20 a person) next Saturday where they will pair some of the finest vino with the finest in 7-Eleven cuisine to “bring out the natural complexities of saturated fat and yellow #5.”

The brilliant pairings:

  • Course #1: Boules de Fromage (cheesy puffs) paired with Denis Pere & Fils Brut, Burgundy, France
  • Course #2:  Charcuterie de 7-Eleven (Slim Jim) paired with Paul Hobbs Felino Vina Cobos Malbec 2007, Mendoza, Argentina
  • Course #3: Frito Tarte (Fritos nachos) paired with Owen Roe Abbot’s Table Red 2007, Washington
  • Course #4: Gâteau au Chocolat en Plastique (Hostess Ding Dongs) paired with Barros 10 Year Tawny Porto, Portugal

This event was such a huge hit last year, selling out in record time that you should RSVP asap before they run out of room. I already confirmed my reservations. Yay!
