Whether you’re celebrating strawberries, your dad or Saturdays, there is a cupcake out there for you. Some even for free.
Cute stationary store in Venice, Urbanic Paper Boutique, is kicking off its Cupcake Saturdays this weekend. Why cupcakes in a paper store, you ask?
Store owner Audrey Woollen realized that the Abbott Kinney shopping district could really use a cupcake venue. She loves cupcakes, her customers love cupcakes and the neighborhood loves cupcakes.
So now on Saturday, folks can purchase organic cupcakes — made by new company, Taste Love Bakehouse — at the store. Prices are $3 for single, $15 for half dozen and $30 for a dozen. All cute cakes are made with organic milk, eggs and flour and hormone-free sweet cream and butter.
This week’s featured flavors include:
- Vanilla Cloud: vanilla cake made with Madagascar Bourbon vanilla beans with vanilla bean buttercream
- Snow Cap: rich chocolate cake topped with vanilla bean buttercream with a hint of sea salt
- Saint Chocolate: chocolate cupcake topped with chocolate buttercream and milk chocolate sprinkles from France
- Coconut Island: ube (purple yam) coconut cake with vanilla buttercream — mmm! This one sounds like a Filipino dessert.
And this Saturday the 14th, they’re kicking off Cupcake Saturdays by giving away FREE mini cupcakes from 11am to 4pm! What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday.
SusieCakes celebrates June Strawberry Festival with its yummy-sounding cupcake of the month: fresh strawberries swirled with white chocolate chips in a vanilla cupcake topped with vanilla buttercream. If, for some reason, you’re not the cupcake type, there’s also a strawberry swirl cheesecake, strawberry rhubarb pie and strawberry-shaped sugar cookies. Great for summer parties.
This weekend, Sprinkles thinks what your dad really wants for Father’s Day is a box of a dozen cupcakes. The cupcakery is offering a special Dad box for Father’s Day weekend June 13-15 that will include its famous red velvet cupcakes as well as black and white, peanut butter chip and vanilla milk chocolate.
Vanilla Bake Shop doesn’t have a special per se but it does have a brand-new flavor that’ll evoke tropical summers. On Sundays (as well as Wednesdays and Fridays), you can get the blackberry passion fruit cupcake — yellow cake with a passion fruit center and a blackberry buttercream frosting.
