In celebration of its 79th anniversary, Silverlake’s Taix French Restaurant (pronounced “Tex”) is offering a roasted chicken dinner for only $7.95. That’s right, every day (except Saturday) 5-7pm through August 31, you get soup du jour, house salad, potato, vegetables, a chicken dinner and dessert sherbet, all for under $8.

To give you an idea of what a nice deal this is, their signature dinner Poulet Roti Fermiere (roasted chicken with Bordelaise sauce), which comes with soup or salad and sherbet, goes for $16.95.

I haven’t had a chance to check out this place yet but from what I read, it’s got an impressive wine list that is both extensive and underpriced, AND the bartenders are known for their mixed-drink skills. Sweet!

From CitySearch:

The stately dining room is decorated like a fancy restaurant, with frosted glass and a faux tin ceiling, yet the moderately priced fare and abundant portions draw everyone from priests to Eastside hipsters…The extensive wine list–featuring superior bottles at cut-rate prices–is a draw in and of itself.

After 10, there’s live music in the bar. And every Wednesday night at 9pm there’s open mic night, a seemingly good time had by all.
