I just randomly came across this but thought “Neat-o!” and had to share it. Apparently you can go produce shopping with executive chef Mark Gold of downtown’s Cafe Pinot at the Santa Monica Farmers Market every Wednesday while he selects ingredients for the restaurant.

According to the restaurant Web site, Chef Gold, schooled at the New England Culinary Institute, has appropriately lofty culinary goals: “to use the best possible ingredients at their seasonal height and to keep the food simple and refined.” Sounds like you can learn a lot from this man.
