End of the World Party Roundup: We’re All Gonna Die Anyway

— by Caroline on Crack

I was gonna do a weekend roundup but since it’s supposed to be the end of the world tomorrow (again) according to the media (for the Mayans, it’s just the end of a key phase on the Mayan calendar), why bother? So here’s a bunch of doomsday parties to get your freak on. One. Last. Time. And the great thing about no tomorrow? No hangover! Party on, my friends.

Freddy Small’s End of World Party: If you really believe there’s no tomorrow then might as well drink of the West LA bar’s Jim Jones Flavor Aid ($7). Too soon? This specialty cocktail is made with Tanqueray 10 Gin, Plantation Overproof Rum, lemon and orange juices, pomegranate grenadine, agave and soda.

Copa d’Oro’s Mayan Zombie Apocalypse Party: Copa d’Oro is going all out to prepare you for the impending zombie apocalypse. They’ve got a make-up artist on the ready to zombify you for free! There will also be a costume contest and dancing. All for no cover.

Rock & Reilly’s Bad Judgment Day: Free whiskey punch to those who bring in canned goods. The Irish pub will have you believe the canned goods will go toward the LA Food Bank, but I suspect they’re really just stockpiling for the apocalypse.

Doomsday Party at Duplex: Oddly enough, this doomsday party boasts a tarot card reader. But maybe they’re thinking their “Magical Cocktail Elixir” will do an effective job of protecting you from the rapture or whatever? The chef will fix up some snacks for your last meal and there will be DJs to get your very last groove on.

End of the World Party in West Hollywood: Leave it to WeHo to party it up in style. The street party on Larrabee between Revolver and Eleven will go off from 8 to 10pm and feature gogo dancers and a Mayan Rain Dance performance. At 9:12pm (the moment the Mayan calendar ends) there will be a toast. Nearby businesses like Micky’s, Eleven and the Abbey will be hosting their own special events as well.
